Vivienne Westwood 1994 A/W collection : On the Liberty

Onthe Liberty was named after the economist and philosopher John Stuart Mill's 1859 essay, which argued that dermocratic middle-class society suppressed bold and adventurous individuals and cared nothing for individual liberty.

The collection also featured a new collaboration with Liberty & Co. of Regent Street, London, utilizing prints from thier archives on pile, needlecordquilted georgette

Westwood created the knitting pattern for a woollen dress based on scaled-up versio of one of these patterns. Richly graduated in colour and with a curving pattern and three-dimensional flowers.
